A U.S. Open blogger has been found--"Maverick Philosopher" (hat tip to DG). He even got to play Benjamin! :-)
Mike W. meanwhile has withdrawn from the tournament after losing some bad games in the more rapid 6-day schedule. There is always next year -- and Michael de la Maza's "Rapid Chess Improvement" book (which I've been reading today with more interest than I had expected)!
